Jeremy Gilley, founder and chairman of Peace One Day, who has worked closely with United Nations to create an annual day of global ceasefire and non-violence, sent this personal message of support to the Streatham community:

“For Peace Day 2011, Streatham is rising to the challenge by creating their own local peace festival where they will help us launch a 365-day countdown to the Global Truce 2012. Good luck Streatham – thank you for helping Peace One Day spread the word. I hope The Little Big Peace Event will inspire others, in the local community and beyond, to make their commitment to Peace Day 2011 and Peace Day 2012 – the Global Truce.”

For Peace Day 21 September 2012, Peace One Day is calling for and working towards a day of ceasefire and non-violence – a Global Truce –observed by all sectors of society globally, from governments to the individual. To this end POD is engaged in an extensive diplomatic and grassroots communications exercise.
