11-11.45pm: Jimi Begbaaji – Racial Microaggressions: Toxic Consequences and Timely Remedies. This interactive presentation by Jimi Begbaaji illustrates what happens within when racism occurs. Racial stress and trauma flies under the radar as a root cause for anxiety, depression and illness. Initiate your legacy of peace by joining the conversation.

 

 

12-12.30pm and 2-2.30pm: Pause & Breathe by Lillian Lartey.  Lillian is the creator of the ‘Pause & Breathe’ Method. Using a few, simple wellness techniques, ‘Pause & Breathe’ helps you ease stress, anxiety and overwhelm, be present in your mind with head space, and feel relaxed in your body where you can breathe better, feel lighter with a sense of peace and feel balanced with calm energy. 1-2pm: Stretch and Tone with Charmaine Obene. Charms uses fun workouts that fuses fi tness
techniques for stretch an body conditioning to help tone, chisel and defi ne the whole body. She takes you and your body through a series of controlled exercises designed to strengthen and tone the muscles, mobilise the joints, increase movement efficiency, build stamina, improve balance, focus on good posture and ease back pain. ALL levels welcome. Come, find your inner peace and build your core.

Creative Corner Sessions @11-3pm Creative writing Taster with Denise: 11.30am and 1.30pm – Creative Writing Word Games Getting started with poetry and prose. Want to write but not sure where to start? Here are some simple techniques and forms that will get you creating straight away and can also be used as ‘warm-ups’ to activate your imagination. Suitable for everyone, especially beginners
12.15pm and 2.15pm – Creative Writing Characters!
Whose story are you telling? What are the essential ingredients of a story? Discover some techniques
for creating living, breathing characters that you and your readers will want to know. Suitable for everyone including beginners.

Creative writing Taster with Denise – Denise Woodhouse:
Denise began writing poetry, stories and plays during her childhood in Malawi. Later she had plays performed by the Armchair Theatre Group in Brighton. More recently she studied English and Creative Writing at the University of Chichester, achieving a First-Class Honours degree. Whilst at university she was Poet in Residence for the ‘Insight’ Art Exhibition at Pallant House Gallery and performed her poetry at Chichester Cathedral’s inaugural ‘Cathedral Nights’ event.

 

 

Denise has had poetry published in London Poetry Pearl’s anthology and Pen to Print’s magazine Write On! Her flash fiction has appeared in National Flash Fiction Day’s Flash Flood and in 2021 she won Second Prize in the University of Chichester Short Story Competition. The story – about a veteran with PTSD – is currently being recorded for performance by the Royal British Legion. Moving to East London in 2017, Denise began teaching ESOL classes and ran art and craft workshops at her local community centre. She also gave poetry readings and talks at the Royal Docks History Club’s annual Ferry Festival. Now settled in Streatham, she is currently working on two novels.

 

Arts sessions with Liz: Bring your child to create and paint a Peace dove while you enjoy the talks, workshops and massages. Children and adults chat about what the word Peacemeans to them, discuss their image of peace then draw or cut out their own dove and create their own version of the Peace dove.

 

Crafting with Simone: Crafting; beautiful colours, textures and ideas – come along to settle into deeply creative and very peaceful activity. Suitable for everyone.

‘Hook Ups’ with Micheline @2-4pm: If you are interested in crochet, thinking about trying it, or would like to show some of what you have made, then this is the session for you! Come to crochet alongside other makers.

Elizabeth Balogun is a London based portrait artist, who studied at Croydon College where she has obtained a BTEC National Diploma in Fine Art and City Guilds life drawing.  She has done online creative art and craft classes with children and adults and loves teaching new students in creative ways.

Children and adults will talk about what the word peace means to them for 5 minutes and will discuss their image of peace. They will then be given an option to either draw or cut out their own dove and create their own version of their dove.

communities. Members of ABC will drop into the event. They will talk about their work, including their Parent Forum, for anyone who would like to chat.
