Want to be more Peaceful? Want to make a difference? Want to find out more about Peace? You’d never know it from reading most newspapers but there are literally MILLIONS of organisations in the world who are dedicated to Peace!
We recommend you take a look at as many of these sites as you have time for – you are almost certain to be left feeling totally inspired. There are so many great people out there working to leave a positive legacy. These organisations are taking measurable action in the world that is already making a real difference:
Peace related organisations:
Peace One Day – aims to institutionalise Peace Day across the world so it becomes self-sustaining.
The Forgiveness Project – works at a local, national and international level to help build a future free of conflict and violence by healing the wounds of the past.
WAVE – tackling the root causes of violence, including child abuse and neglect.
Peace Direct – supporting local peacebuilders around the world.
International Day of Peace – provides an opportunity for individuals, organizations and nations to create practical acts of peace on a shared date.
International Alert – an independent peacebuilding organisation that works to lay the foundations for lasting peace and security in communities affected by violent conflict.
Release The Peace – Set up by The Jimmy Mizen Foundation, this initiative aims to encourage young people to be positive forces within their communities.
Words of Peace Global – a site created by volunteers dedicated to spreading the word of global teacher Prem Rewat, who first began speaking about Peace at the tender age of 13. Also find out more at The Prem Rewat Foundation and check out their remarkable work in prisons.
London Citizens – an organisation which believes that, “people working together have the power to change their communities and their country for the better”.
